استقال من منصبه كسفير لليبيا في الهند وعهد إليه من قبل المجلس الوطني الانتقالي الليبي كمسؤول عن العلاقات الخارجية في فريق إدارة الأزمات الذي أنشأه المجلس الوطني الانتقالي لإدارة الثورة ، وفي هذه المهمة تمكن من إحضار أول اعتراف دولي للمجلس الانتقالي من فرنسا وإيطاليا في أبريل 2011.

كما تم تكليفه بمنصب نائب رئيس المكتب التنفيذي (رئيس وزراء الثورة) ، وتولى مسؤولية تسيير الأمور اليومية داخل المناطق المحررة حتى التحرير.
